My current body of work references the female figure, curvy and beautiful. I'm inspired by the high fashion of the 1950s, with silhouettes that accentuate the curves of the female body.
The individual forms within my line sets are thrown and altered vessels. The pushing, pulling and darting are used to create the direction changes to represent these curves and imply gesture. I strive to achieve a communication through movement between the individuals, almost as if they were dancing or walking stylish down a runway.
The surface design is kept simple to direct the attention to the form, silhouette and negative space between the forms. The simplicity of the line guides the eye gently through the sets making the individual forms cohesive. The word line within the titles references the term clothing line.
While these lines are strictly for aesthetic pleasure, there remains evidence of my appreciation for the utilitarian vessel.
